Muneca is a beautiful 18-year-old blind dog who was turned over to the Baldwin Park Animal Care Center located in Los Angeles, California because her human “couldn’t” keep taking care of her. This was a drastic change for the life of this dog, she suffered abandonment just at the moment she needed company the most.
When Muneca arrived at the shelter, she was provided with the necessary veterinary care. She was full of fleas, which is why the rescuers thought that she was not being properly cared for by her previous human, in addition to losing her vision, this dog also has hearing problems.
The Tuesday after Muneca arrived at the rescue center, a woman named Elaine Seamans came to visit and immediately the dog in search of love and protection clung to her, not wanting to let her go.
The emotional moment was captured by John Hwang, a man who went to the animal rescue center for a photography project. These images were disseminated on social networks and caused a stir.
“By the time I got to the shelter, Elaine was already holding the dog ,” Hwang told The Dodo. The bitch clung to her.
“Elaine is wonderful with dogs,” he adds. «She rolls on the ground with the shelter dogs, kisses them. You really feel a special chemistry with them. I love capturing that. “
“Lastly, whoever sees the photo, I want them to feel a connection,” says Hwang. “If I can capture the right kind of connection, then the person who sees the image will feel it too.”
Thanks to the dissemination of the images, Muneca was welcomed by the animal rescue organization Frosted Faces Foundation of San Diego. The main objective of this organization is to collect donations to care for and bring happiness to the aged dogs for the remainder of their lives.
UPDATE 23 / October / 2016
Although it seemed impossible for Muneca to find a new home, things turned in her favor after the photograph taken by John Hwang was shared extensively on social media, a large number of people around the world were interested in adopting Muneca and it was Amy Gann the great lucky.
Shelter staff screened many of those interested in Muneca to find the right one and when they met this woman, they did not hesitate to choose her.
Gann made a sling to keep Muneca close to him at every moment of the day while he does his chores. It is true that doll is a blind dog, but regardless of her condition, she is very happy now receiving the warmth and love of her new home.
