Mohammad Alaa Aljaleel “the cat man of Aleppo” is the name of this brave man who has rescued a large number of animals in Aleppo, Syria, which have been harmed by the armed conflict in this country, where in the last weeks have seen a lot of airstrikes.
Alaa is an ambulance driver and is also the director of an animal sanctuary, which unfortunately was attacked with bombs that killed several of these innocent beings who were under his care, also leaving the facilities in ruins.
Two days after the attack, the place was bombed again and the animals were transferred to another place where the sanctuary is expected to be rebuilt.
The history of Alaa has gone around the world and a large number of people have decided to make donations to refurbish the sanctuary. This man used to be an electrician before the war began and is currently the father of three children.
When the attacks in Aleppo began, this man transported people to hospitals in an ambulance and at night he found cats and animals that due to the terrible circumstances of the war had become homeless, that is how his project of creating a sanctuary.
Last week, the air strikes left 32 people dead including children, because the bombs also fell on the children’s hospital and the blood bank, this war that began in 2011 seems to have no end, fortunately there are people like Mohammad who provide hope in the midst of so much destruction.
This man has shown to have a great heart and a love towards animals, no matter the complicated circumstances, he refuses to abandon them, being even the only person in Aleppo who has cared about their welfare.
