The woman who resides in Iwerne Minste, Dorset, heard Moppit whimper under her neighbor’s garden after she had been missing for 18 hours earlier.
Dorset Fire and Rescue Station Manager Stuart Gillion attended the scene and found the dog to be 15 feet underground in a tunnel usually filled with water.
The situation was by no means simple so a fire team, a technical rescue team and the urban search and rescue unit in Exeter, Devon were contacted, the latter being a highly specialized underground rescue team.
After nine hours of strenuous work, one of the team members entered the tunnel and was able to take the dog in his arms thanks to a hole that was made on the property of Marcos Greave, who allowed all the necessary procedure to be done. save Moppit.
