Donna and Trevor Armstrong of Wingham, New South Wales, Australia, happily purchased their three race car beds for their grandchildren from a local furniture store this year. The grandchildren and their parents loved the beds, but someone in the family couldn’t help but feel left out.
Donna dijo a The Dodo:
“My son Zac, who has no children, said to us, ‘Aww, where’s my son’s car bed?'”
Zac was referring to his 3-year-old Chihuahua / Pomeranian mix , Butch Cassidy.
As any loving grandparent would do, the couple decided to surprise the dog with his own race car bed this Christmas, but their result was a little different than the other grandchildren.
Completely handcrafted and painted by Grandpa, the wooden bed is the perfect size for Butch and even has his name painted on the side. It has four small wheels with logos painted on the tires and has a wide area at the top for plenty of comfortable pillows and blankets.
Donna said:
“He works six days a week, but every spare moment he had before the holidays had been working on it. I was devastated two days before Christmas that Zac took my dog downstairs and almost discovered his surprise when he was working in the shop. But the look on Zac’s face the day he opened it showed that he clearly hadn’t seen her. “
Dog gets a race car bed for Christmas
In all, it took Trevor almost a month to complete the project in time for Christmas. Unsurprisingly, Butch loved it as much as his father.
Donna said:
Butch was quite excited when his bed was opened and he climbed straight into it. He lies in it at night while his father watches television, but when it is time to sleep he gets into the big bed with his father.
Since Butch is a unique dog, he spends a lot of time with his grandparents and their three dogs while his father works. He spends a lot of time with his grandfather especially, so it cannot be denied that they have a special bond.
Donna said:
“My husband owns a store, so Butch goes to work with his grandfather every day. He eagerly sits at the front window waiting for his dad to come at 5 pm As soon as his dad picks up the keys, he comes to say goodbye to Grandma and Grandpa and gives us a hug.
It seems that Butch knows how spoiled and pampered he is, as grandchildren should be.
Donna added:
“He is our grandson and is treated as such.”
