Paloma forms an adorable bond with a puppy in need of a friend
Paloma forms an adorable bond with a Chihuahua puppy who needed a friend, since they met they began a beautiful friendship.
Herman, a pigeon, and Lundy, a small Chihuahua, are a couple who have few things in common, but are united by a great friendship. They both have special problems, the pigeon cannot fly due to neurological damage and Lundy cannot use his hind legs.
The two are animals rescued by the MIA Foundation , a rescue organization in Rochester, New York, that rehabilitates animals with birth defects and physical deformities.
It was at the foundation where they met, when Lundy arrived, the dove had already been part of this organization for a year.
Pigeon and puppy become best friends
Herman, had been found at a car dealership, where he lay on the sidewalk, motionless, for days, until they found out he couldn’t fly.
Wildlife rescuers for the pigeon said it couldn’t be rehabilitated and was going to be euthanized, but Sue Rogers, founder of the Mia Foundation, decided to take care of the pigeon and has cared for it ever since.
Lundy’s story is short, he was sent from South Carolina by his breeders, due to having trouble using his hind legs. It is so small that it can fit in a shirt pocket, Sue thinks her problem is due to damage to her small spinal cord.
The couple was destined to meet, one day, Sue took care of the needs of both and put them in the same place, where they began their beautiful friendship.
Sue was surprised by the way they both huddled together as if they had known each other before, as if they were part of the same pack.
They may be an unusual couple, but they did not see things the same way, they found a new friend in each other. Being in the same bed, they started a kind of party where they both enjoyed each other’s company and enjoyed snuggling in different ways.
Herman, who is the older of the two, seemed to know that this cute bond was exactly what little Lundy needed.
Sue snapped some photos of the heartwarming moment and shared them on the foundation’s Facebook page, and the reactions were not long in coming.
People from all corners of the world were moved by the tender images and sent donations and messages of support to the foundation. Now many people are interested in adopting Lundy or the other puppies that the foundation cares for.
Sue told CNN :
“I was impressed. donations keep pouring in: the foundation raised $ 6,000 in two days. That’s enough to cover the high cost of veterinary surgery required by many of the rescued animals. “
Although Herman will most likely spend the rest of his life in Sue’s care, it is hoped that Lundy will stay strong and survive.
Undoubtedly, the support that both of them give each other with their beautiful friendship will be essential for the total recovery of each one.
Sue said:
“With animals born with defects, there is a possibility that we could lose them. So we don’t want to excite anyone. But now I think we have received thousands of emails saying; Please, never separate those two! “
The truth is, both animals were brought to the shelter with their special needs, and there will be many challenges that they will have to overcome.
Fortunately, thanks to their friendship, they will not take on these challenges alone and will surely achieve their happy ending.
