Sher Polvinale cares for approximately 26 dogs. This woman created a home called House With a Heart Senior Pet Sanctuary to help all the elderly dogs who have suffered from abandonment by their humans because of their age. The home is located in Gaithersburg, Maryland.
Sher receives the help of other female volunteers who come to the home every day at 11 in the morning and together they take care of all the problems and needs of the dogs.
“Many of these little dogs come to live with us until the end of their life, and we make sure that this end is full of love, affection, and all the medical attention they require,” Sher affirmed.
Whenever a dog is welcomed into the home, it remains there until its time to leave arrives, and this woman along with her work team are in charge of giving them the best and last years of their lives.
These dogs were mostly abandoned because their humans could not “cope” with their old age problems, some of them even found it difficult to walk and others had respiratory and heart problems, among others.
Every time a dog dies, its photograph is hung next to the stairs, which is why this part of the asylum was named “stairway to heaven.”
Sher dedicates every moment of her life to helping dogs, from 6 in the morning until bedtime, but for her this is not complex because her desire to give them all her love is greater than anything else.
“We never forget them, they are always with us,” said Sher Polvinale.
