Territorio de Zaguates is an animal refuge located in Costa Rica, where the animals enjoy excellent care from the volunteers and best of all, they will not be euthanized no matter how long it takes to find a forever home. This place is breathtaking and is definitely homeless “dog heaven”.
The main objective of this shelter is to change the thinking of people who believe that mongrel dogs are inferior to “purebred” dogs. The word Zaguate means for non-Costa Rican “stray dog without breed.”
This shelter carries with it the following motto: “When you adopt a pooch, you adopt a unique breed”, alluding to the importance of providing fair treatment to mongrel dogs that are unique, loving and special beings.
Many people use dogs as if they were an object, but they do not give them the true value they deserve for being living beings with noble feelings, this is a very sad situation and that is why this shelter offers the possibility to interested people to that they come and spend some time with the furry ones before opting to adopt one.
Zaguates Territory
Territorio de Zaguates wants to have a good interaction with the dogs, so they can take them out for walks in the green areas of the shelter for a while.
Here the animals live comfortably, they have beds, food, recreation, drinking troughs with fresh running water that are all facilities and special places to be cleaned.
Although these dogs are being treated in an excellent way, they would prefer to find a permanent home where they receive love forever.
It is no secret to anyone that the problem of stray animals is a strong reason for discussion in some countries that lack the appropriate places and authorities to combat it, and that is why it is a great fortune to have this animal refuge in Costa Rica, which has given the opportunity to be happy to a large number of dogs that have had to endure abuse and abandonment throughout their lives.
The Territory of Zaguates in Costa Rica is considered a paradise for dogs
Without a doubt, here each dog is treated as a unique and special being and they even receive their own type of breed to make their adoption process more striking and easy, some of these breeds are: Alaskan fluffy Collieterrier and Fire-tailed Bordercocker .
The shelter is financed through private funds and houses more than 600 animals, the volunteers are in charge of encouraging the adoption of the animals through awareness messages that seek to highlight the importance of providing them with a home.
People can visit this place and not just see photos online, because interaction is a key factor for this organization, and best of all, as mentioned at the beginning, the dogs will not be euthanized, so adopters will not they must feel pressured.
They only limit themselves to enjoying the company of these wonderful dogs and perhaps taking one home, something that is very likely since they tend to steal hearts very easily with their sweetness.
