Baby cubs freeze to death by loggers
Bears are a species that is characterized by their way of hibernating, they remain inactive for months in the winter, sheltered in a burrow. This is precisely what the bear family did, but their hibernation process was interrupted by strangers and forced to have an unexpected awakening.
Apparently, the woodcutters under the influence of alcohol, were walking through the forest, and had the bad idea of waking up the bears when passing through their burrow.
A source told the Siberian Times :
“The boys got drunk after cutting logs and went for a walk in the woods. They came across a den and thought it would be a great idea to wake up the bear. “
At first they were unsuccessful, but they began hitting the mother bear with various objects and achieved their goal.
The cubs that were too scared to protect themselves from the men, the only thing left was to go out into the open and flee the place.
The mother bear was left with no choice but to try to defend herself and protect her lair, but the men continued to attack her.
The source said:
“The men defended themselves with a chainsaw, wounding the bear that fled the scene.”
Unfortunately, the mother had to leave her cubs at the site, and due to the high temperatures it was known that the two cubs were frozen to death.
The bodies of the cubs were found by hunting experts patrolling the forest in the Anuchinsky district of Russia’s Far East.
The authorities have identified the men who caused this incident, but have not yet released their names, although they will be prosecuted.
According to Dmitry Pankratov, from the regional department of Wildlife Control, Protection and Regulation, the mother bear is alive, but did not return to its burrow.
Dmitry dijo:
«We confirmed that these two cubs were abandoned by their mother who was frightened by the loggers. The mother bear is alive, but she never returned to the den.
